The story of Frankenstein as writen by Mary Shelly is one of many theme's and lesson's
well learned. Responsiblity to God's roll there is much for a reader to learn about
mankind. Man should never take the roll of what God should do. Frankenstein is a
perfect reason why man should not play the roll of god.
The creature presented in Frankenstein isnt your typical charecter in a story. He's
filled with rage, but at the same time is full of love. Victor Frankenstein created
this creature with thought of creating life from the lifeless and it stopped at that.
He never even thought what may happen if he had created the creature. Obviously,
creating a 8ft creature will create a few problems. "Great God! If for one instant
I had thought what might be the hellish intention of my fiendish adversary, I
would rather have banished myself forever from my native country and wandered a
friendless outcast over the earth than have consented to this miserable marriage.(174-5)
Victor said it himself that he should of thought about it and none of this would
have happened to him.
Well, the creature is here to stay and Victor has to deal with it. As the creature is
born into this world, Victor doesnt even bother to get it on its feet or even give it a
name. So, this monster is just refered to as, the creature. "'When I looked around I
saw and heard of none like me. Was I, the, a monster, a blot upon the earth from
which all men fled and whom all men disowned?"(105) The creature itself know's its
not one of this world and expresses his sorrow's to Victor. Victor doesn't even care,
he hasnt taken one bit of responsibility to the thing he has created. For this he is
punish and is forced with the burden of this monster until the day he dies.
Victor's creation of the creature has a relation to God's creation of man. Like God
Victor takes the unliving and makes life out of it. Creating life is something that
shoudl only be done by God. The creature created could resemble Adam and Victor being
the creater God.
Frankenstein the story is a must read for everyone intrested in reading about a
well crafted theme. From the relation to god to bad parenthood Frankenstein is one
book everyone is sure to love.
